IVE’s Jang Wonyoung is facing fresh criticism over her attitude, this time following a visit to a theme park.
On July 1, IVE made a surprise appearance at Everland for “ForEVER IVE,” a special collaboration project with the theme park. The members tried rides, explored themed attractions and spent time with fans and visitors.
Videos filmed by parkgoers later spread across online communities, where one clip in particular sparked debate.
In the footage, the IVE members are seen listening as a staff member explains one of the collaboration areas. While the other members stood with their hands clasped, Jang kept her arms crossed throughout the briefing.
Her body language quickly drew criticism online, with commenters calling the gesture rude and saying she should have at least uncrossed her arms while the staff member was speaking.
“Crossing your arms while someone is talking to you is just rude,” one user wrote. Others added, “You should show some respect when someone is explaining something,” “Is it her habit to cross her arms?” and, “This is about etiquette.”
Others pushed back on the backlash, pointing out how difficult it is for celebrities to have every small gesture scrutinized in public, writing, “She should be more careful when people are watching” and “It must be hard living as a celebrity.”
The latest debate comes after Jang previously faced criticism over an airport identity check before leaving for Shanghai, China. Footage showed her briefly lowering her mask while still wearing a hat, fueling accusations of special treatment.
Jang was later seen removing both her hat and mask during a separate departure.
The Korea Airports Corporation also updated the identity verification notice on its website last month, explicitly asking passengers to briefly remove masks, hats and sunglasses for identification.
