A new dating reality show is putting love against the clock.

SBS’ Love Against Time follows young singles in their 20s and 30s who have either received a terminal diagnosis or come close to death while battling serious illness as they open themselves up to life — and love — once again.

The show begins with one question: “If I had little time left, who would I choose to love?”

Having faced their own mortality, the cast members will confront past pain while pursuing new relationships with an honesty and urgency unlike typical dating shows.

The series will also introduce a unique matching system in which contestants exchange “time” with one another each night, building connections that producers say led to unexpected romances and movie-like stories.

Lee Se Young, Jung Yong Hwa, SEVENTEEN’s DK and Yena will serve as hosts.

Making her debut as a dating show host, Lee was moved to tears during the first taping. Jung, a self-proclaimed dating show fan, quickly picked up on emerging romance, while DK connected with the cast through his warm empathy.

Yena, who survived childhood cancer, also brought a deeply personal perspective to the show, pairing heartfelt empathy with sharp observations.

Love Against Time is helmed by producer Lee Eun Sol, who previously created Possessed Love, the dating show centered on young fortune tellers.

“I wanted to capture how fiercely and beautifully young people who understand life’s limits better than anyone can love with the time they have,” Lee said. “Even the production team was surprised by the connections and relationships that continued to unfold until the very end.”

Love Against Time premieres August 3 at 10 PM KST on SBS.
