Gong Yoo had a bold idea for a Goblin cast reunion project, but Kim Go Eun and Lee Dong Wook weren’t fully on board.
On the July 12 finale of tvN’s Goblin 10th Anniversary Trip, Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na talked about what kind of drama they would want to make if the four of them worked together again.
Yoo In Na asked what genre they would like to try, and Gong Yoo said he had already been thinking about it. His pitch? A messy romance where he and Kim Go Eun play a married couple, Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na play another married couple, and Gong Yoo and Yoo In Na’s characters are having an affair.
Lee Dong Wook immediately groaned, “That sounds exhausting.”
Gong Yoo agreed with a laugh, saying, “It would be a totally messy, complicated melodrama.”
Kim Go Eun had a different idea. “I want us to fight a lot. Verbally,” she said. “Like a long-term couple fighting in a really realistic way.”
When Lee Dong Wook joked, “How could we possibly fight more than we already do? Just take the cameras away,” Kim replied, “That’s what I want to capture. We’re really good at fighting.”
But Gong Yoo stuck to his idea, saying, “I want to do the messy melodrama.”
Kim then explained why she was against it, surprising everyone with her blunt answer. “The reason I don’t want it is because you have to go on a diet,” she said. “Because I’ll have to take my clothes off.”
A flustered Yoo In Na reacted, “What is wrong with her? What’s going on with our girl?” while Lee Dong Wook asked, “Are intimate scenes a must?”
Kim calmly fired back, “What, if we don’t take our clothes off, we just kiss, then? In a melodrama?”
Gong Yoo wrapped up the conversation with a playful call to the industry, saying, “Anyway, please contact us. Whoever wants to produce it.”
