Byun Yo Han, Ahn Jae Hong and Ha Yoon Kyung Team Up for New Occult Thriller

The upcoming film The Auspicious Day (literal title) has announced its cast, kicked off production and released stills from its table read.

The Auspicious Day follows Woo Jin, who is preparing to move into a new home on what is believed to be the most auspicious day. But after his wife Hee Yeon begins showing strange signs, he crosses paths with Tae Ju, a shaman who says Hee Yeon must undergo a spirit possession ritual. The story unfolds over the course of a single day.

Byun Yo Han stars as Tae Ju, a gifted shaman and disciple of a powerful mansin, bringing a commanding presence to the center of the story. Ahn Jae Hong plays Woo Jin, a lawyer who only believes what he can see. Even as he faces events he cannot explain, Woo Jin continues to cling to reason and logic, setting up a fresh dynamic between Byun and Ahn as they share the screen for the first time.

Ha Yoon Kyung plays Woo Jin’s wife, Hee Yeon, a woman pulled into the heart of the mystery after experiencing a series of eerie incidents.

Adding to the anticipation is director Huh Jung, known for Hide and Seek and The Mimic, who has built a reputation for carefully drawing tension out of cracks in everyday life. The film is produced by A-List Studio and BA Entertainment.

The Auspicious Day is also the main investment and distribution title from CGV Pictures, the new label launched by CGV as it expands into film investment and distribution in 2025. CGV Pictures is also set to release its first main investment and distribution film, Ok! Madam 2, in the second half of the year as it strengthens its work in content planning, investment and distribution.

The Auspicious Day began filming on June 14th and is now officially in production.
