My Royal Nemesis gave Lim Ji Yeon and Heo Nam Jun the happy ending fans had been waiting for — and went out with its best ratings yet.

The final episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama brought Shin Seo Ri (Lim Ji Yeon) and Cha Se Gye’s (Heo Nam Jun) time-crossing romance to a satisfying close. After changing the tragic fate of their past lives, the two reunited in the present and promised a future together.

The finale recorded a peak rating of 14.1% and averaged 11.8% nationwide and in the Seoul metropolitan area, marking a new personal best for the series. It also ranked No. 1 in its time slot, among Saturday miniseries and weekly miniseries. Among viewers ages 20 to 49, it averaged 4.5% and peaked at 5.6%, topping all programs aired that week.

In the final episode, Seo Ri returned to Joseon to save Se Gye and crossed paths with Grand Prince Yi Hyun (Heo Nam Jun), only to take an arrow meant for him and fall from a cliff. Back in the present, Se Gye realized everything he had dreamed was real and broke down, pleading, “Can you stop making me wait now? Please come back.”

His desperate voice reached Seori in the void, where she remembered the person she loved and chose to return.

On a day when frost fell in early summer, Seori and Segye finally reunited. Seori promised to grow old with him and proposed a permanent “contract,” giving the romance its long-awaited payoff.

The finale also showed Kang Dan Shim (Lim Ji Yeon) and Yi Hyun choosing a new life in Joseon, while Seo Ri and Se Gye finally brought down Choi Mundo (Jang Seung Jo) for his unforgivable crimes. Baek Gwang Nam (Kim Min Seok), Yoon Ji Hyo (Lee Se Hee) and Mo Tae Hee (Chae Seo An) also moved toward fresh starts.

The finale closed with Seo Ri and Se Gye’s narration: “The warmth of one person and the courage to take just one step can make you choose to live. If you can just keep going, a beautiful new world will unfold. You can believe that.”

My Royal Nemesis follows Shin Seo Ri, an unknown actress possessed by the soul of a notorious Joseon villainess, and Cha Se Gye, a ruthless chaebol heir known as a monster of capitalism. The 14-episode drama wrapped on June 20th.
