Kangin, a former member of Super Junior, has officially announced his return to the music industry with a new single.

Kangin uploaded an interview to his YouTube channel to announce the release of his digital single, “LOVE IS PAIN,” on April 6th. According to the singer, the track had previously only been performed at private fan meetings. It is now being officially released at the urging of his supporters. “I decided to return with the encouragement of my fans,” he shared during the announcement.

The move has met with significant pushback due to Kangin’s history of legal troubles. The singer was at the center of several public outcries following two DUI incidents in 2009 and 2016, as well as various assault allegations. These controversies ultimately led to his official departure from Super Junior in 2019.

Kangin began testing the waters for a comeback in 2023 through YouTube content and fan events after a year-long hiatus. However, public opinion remains deeply polarized. While some netizens argue that a return to the spotlight is inappropriate given the severity of his past actions, others have voiced their support, claiming he has spent sufficient time in self-reflection.

Kangin is expected to resume full-scale activities as a solo artist with the release of “LOVE IS PAIN”.
