Park Bo Young is stepping into her darkest role yet in Disney Plus’s upcoming series Gold Land.
The newly released main trailer drops viewers straight into a high-stakes world of greed, betrayal and survival, centered around 150 billion KRW (approx. 100 million USD) worth of smuggled gold bars.
The story follows customs officer Kim Hee Joo (Park Bo Young), who gets pulled into a massive gold smuggling operation after doing a favor for her boyfriend, airline co-pilot Lee Do Kyung (Lee Hyun Wook). What starts as a simple request quickly spirals when she discovers the hidden gold—and with it, a side of herself she didn’t know existed.
As the trailer unfolds, Hee Joo is forced deeper into dangerous territory, making choices that push her past the point of no return. Meanwhile, Park Director (Lee Kwang Soo), an executive of the organization after Hee Joo, launches a relentless pursuit to track her down.
Determined to survive and keep the gold, Hee Joo eventually picks up a gun—aiming it at Woo Gi (Kim Sung Cheol), a loan company employee tied to her past who offers to team up. But his unpredictable actions blur the line between ally and threat, adding to the tension.
The stakes rise further as corrupt detective Kim Jin Man (Kim Hee Won), who has ties to the casino Gold Land, joins the hunt. With multiple players chasing the same prize, alliances shift and betrayals stack up in a chaotic fight for control.
One line from the trailer captures the turning point: “If it doesn’t belong to anyone, then why can’t I have it?” Moments later, Park Bo Young delivers a chilling “Kill them,” marking her character’s complete transformation.
Blending intense character drama with a gripping survival thriller, Gold Land brings together a strong ensemble cast, including Park Bo Young, Kim Sung Cheol, Lee Hyun Wook, Kim Hee Won, Moon Jung Hee and Lee Kwang Soo.
Gold Land premieres April 29th on Disney Plus, with two episodes dropping weekly for a total of 10 episodes.
