Kim Young Dae and actress Lee Naeun, a former member of K-pop group APRIL, were recently spotted spending time together, sparking dating rumors ahead of Kim’s upcoming military enlistment. Both sides have denied the speculation, saying the two are simply “close friends.”
Star Today reported on March 26th that Kim and Lee were seen together at a drugstore near Gwangnaru in Seoul’s Gwangjin District on March 25th.
Witnesses said the pair visited the store around 4 PM, a relatively quiet time, and casually shopped for everyday items such as toothbrushes. Dressed in running clothes and baseball caps, they appeared relaxed and made no effort to hide their faces, interacting comfortably throughout the outing.
Observers noted that the two chatted naturally and helped each other pick out items, creating an atmosphere some described as more intimate than that of ordinary friends. Kim lives in Seoul’s Gwangjin District, while Lee resides in nearby Guri City across the Han River, making the area a convenient meeting spot for casual outings or exercise.
Kim Young Dae and Lee Naeun first met while filming the 2019 MBC drama Extraordinary You, where they played a couple onscreen. They reportedly stayed in touch after the project, and their recent meeting, taking place just weeks before Kim’s military enlistment, quickly drew public attention.
In response to the rumors, Kim’s agency initially stated, “We cannot confirm details as this concerns the actor’s private life,” before later clarifying, “They have been close friends for a long time.” Lee’s representatives also denied the dating rumors, saying, “We were running with several people,” and adding, “We are not dating. We are close friends.”
Kim Young Dae is scheduled to begin his mandatory military service in April. He debuted in the 2017 web drama The Omniscient Viewpoint on Crushes Season 3.5 and rose to prominence through projects such as Extraordinary You and The Penthouse series. More recently, he appeared in TVING’s Dear X and Netflix’s Boyfriend on Demand.
Lee Naeun began her acting career with a leading role in Extraordinary You and has continued appearing in dramas including The Defects. Previous legal disputes related to internal team conflicts concluded with a not-guilty ruling. She is currently appearing on YouTube variety program Trend Shopper Season 5.
