Kim Go Eun from Netflix’s Single’s Inferno 5 has shared why she didn’t choose Jo I Geon during the final selection.
On the 20th, a new episode of BIGBANG’s Daesung’s YouTube channel was released. The episode featured Jo Yu Sik and Hong Ji Yeon from EXchange 4, along with Kim Go Eun and Song Seung Il from Single’s Inferno 5.
Daesung started the interview by saying, “I hated when MCs asked tough questions when I was on other shows. I didn’t expect to be the one asking them now.” He then asked Kim Go Eun directly, “What’s going on with you and I Geon?”
Kim Go Eun replied, “We’re getting along well,” but Daesung jokingly pressed, “So, how exactly are you getting along?” He continued, “Have you stayed in touch?” to which Kim Go Eun nodded and confirmed, “Yes.”
Daesung then turned the conversation to the final decision, saying, “Go Eun’s choice caused a lot of talk. What was the main reason you didn’t pick I Geon?”
Kim Go Eun explained, “The main reason was mutual friends. Even though my feelings for him grew, I felt like I had to hold back.”
Daesung asked, “Why did mutual friends matter so much? Is it always a bad thing?” His question seemed to make Kim Go Eun uncomfortable, which caught the attention of viewers.
After the episode aired, netizens speculated in the comments, wondering, “Who could these mutual friends be?” and “Could it be an ex-boyfriend?”
Although Kim Go Eun and Jo I Geon didn’t end up as a couple on Single’s Inferno 5, they reunited during the Single’s Inferno Reunion in February. There, they cleared up misunderstandings and promised to go on a date, sparking interest in whether they might become a real-life couple.
