Lee Chung Ah is opening up about working with Lee Na Young and Jung Eun Chae on ENA’s drama Honour.

In an interview on March 12th, Lee Chung Ah reflected on the dynamic between the three actresses, who she said bonded easily despite all being introverts.

“All three of us are extreme ‘I’ types,” she said. “Before filming started, the director kept arranging meetups for us. We’re all comfortable sitting in silence, but the director would get more uncomfortable than we did.”

She also shared a glimpse of their playful on-set chemistry. “Na Young has this older-brother-like charm,” she said. “We’d get close while filming together, but if we went off to shoot separate scenes and came back, we’d bow and joke, ‘It feels awkward seeing you again.’ On days like that, I’d go cling to her and call Eun Chae over too.”

Lee Chung Ah praised both actresses’ performances in the drama. “In the story, Yoon Ra Young (Lee Na Young) is the Achilles’ heel that Hyun Jin (my character) and Shin Jae (Jung Eun Chae) have to protect,” she said. “Watching someone as strong as Na Young portray such a fragile character made me think, ‘She’s truly an actor.'”

“And seeing someone as lovely as Eun Chae play Shin Jae also reminded me she’s a true actor,” she added playfully. “And I even thought, ‘Someone slow and lazy like me is doing a good job playing Hyun Jin.'”

The actress also addressed the stereotype about rivalry between actresses: “If you’re talking about competition through acting, that can happen as colleagues, not as women. But the kind of rivalry people imagine between actresses isn’t really true. It’s usually just differences in personality or communication styles.”

“On set, everyone simply brings their character and gives their best. I actually worry more when the person I’m acting with doesn’t give their all,” she continued. “I’ve been very lucky with my co-stars, whether male or female. Other actors tell me that kind of luck is a real blessing.”

Honour, a mystery drama about three female lawyers confronting a massive scandal from the past, wrapped on March 10th with its highest viewership rating of 4.7% nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea.
