Netflix has struck gold with Single’s Inferno season five! It has been the most talked-about series thus far and ranked at number one among Netflix’s Top 10 across various countries.
Whether it was player Mina Sue Choi pulling you in with her rollercoaster of emotions or the budding romances keeping you on your toes, there are so many reasons to tune into the series. However, what really makes this series so hot is all the nonsensical moments that leave viewers talking and questioning their own way of thinking.
See the top five moments that people couldn’t stop talking about in Single’s Inferno 5.
Mina Sue Choi’s Mind Games

Without a doubt, Mina Sue Choi has emerged as one of the most memorable stars from the series. Her first impression was huge, and viewers, alongside contestants, were swooned and mesmerized by her. As time progressed, however, she proved to be quite fickle and constantly juggled so many contestants’ hearts that she seemed greedy and disingenuous. A scene that really got everyone upset was when she cried because player Min Gee called her out on being indecisive and unclear, saying, “You don’t really know yourself.”
Mina Sue was seen crying and struggling to participate, but she often said things like, “I like Seung Il, but I’m really interested in Sung Hun, even though he is like a brother more than a romantic partner. So, I will choose to go to Paradise with Su Been and flirt with him more.” Her decisions baffled viewers constantly. Can we really side with her?
Shin Hyeon Woo Flirting

When Shin Hyeon Woo finally had his chance in Paradise with Kim Go Eun, it seemed like things would finally work out in his favor. However, it went south real quick when his flirting skills failed miserably. Rather than coming off genuine and sincere, Hyeon Woo appeared to be assertive and overwhelming with his compliments. It felt as if he didn’t truly value Kim Go Eun for anything other than looking pretty. He couldn’t sense her discomfort either.
His constant touchy behavior was also alarming, as most contestants keep a polite distance outside of challenges. Although Hyeon Woo was trying to create a warming atmosphere, the moment he touched Kim Go Eun’s hair to brush behind her ear and said, “You’re cute. Oh my gosh, even your ears are cute. Wow, you’re just too cute. Why are you so cute?” it only enhanced the awkwardness.
Lee Sung Hun’s Mannerisms

Lee Sung Hun isn’t necessarily an annoying contestant and really doesn’t have much screen time (or relevance) until episode nine. However, he had a few scenarios that rubbed people the wrong way. At first, he seems to cling to Mina Sue Choi merely because she can speak English. It felt as if he wouldn’t explore or add any elements to the series due to being hyper-fixated on her. His poor luck with games and challenges also made his character appear more pitiful. Fans also commented on his “Frat Bro-like mentality” due to the way he converses in English. He often used a lot of slang associated with “Hongdae Guys” in America, constantly calling Mina Sue “Bro,” or constantly saying “Let’s go, Let’s get it, bro.” Giving a little ick factor.
Lim Su Been The Ice Prince

Despite having a great start, Lee Su Been became quite cold when it came to the fickle emotions of Mina Sue. After their date and the campfire truth game, he became very cold to the point that it would create constant discomfort on screen. Mina Sue would offer to help him to cook, and he would say, “You don’t have to do that,” suggesting she is not wanted. He would also ignore Mina Sue in a group if she spoke to him, such as when she greeted them in the morning.
Su Been was quoted as being brazen among fans when Mina Sue asked Su Been a question about herself, and he merely expressed “How should I know?” as if they were strangers. Although it turned out to be him feeling bitter and playing hard to get, viewers felt his cold shoulders were too frozen. It could be one reason Mina Sue felt isolated at times. He was also noted for the way he would speak in Korean, coming off as rude to even contestant Hee Sun.
Mina Sue Choi’s Date With Seung Il

As always, a lot of tense scenarios revolve around Mina Sue, whether she is exacerbating the problems or not. During a date in Paradise in episode eight, Mina Sue expressed she was interested in Seung Il, to the disliking of fierce player Min Gee. However, after arriving in Paradise with Seung Il, Mina Sue constantly discussed Su Been and even brought up her perplexed feelings for Sung Hun. Soon after, she was even caught looking out the window of the hotel, spying on Su Been during his date with Hee Sun.
During their intimate talk, it became clear to Seung Il that Mina Sue was more so using him to shake things up with Min Gee and clear her own mind rather than having a sincere interest. She even ended the date telling him, “Don’t tell me what to do, I always do well all on my own.”
