Lee Je Hoon has indirectly addressed the recent controversy surrounding his co-star Cho Jin Woong, who abruptly retired from the industry following revelations about his past.
Lee held a round table interview in Gangnam to celebrate the conclusion of his hit drama Taxi Driver 3 on January 19th.
During the session, Lee responded to questions about recurring scandals in the entertainment industry. “I’ve thought a lot—both instinctively and consciously—about what’s right and wrong since I was young,” he said. “It’s only natural for people in this profession to be mindful of that.” He added that the cast of Taxi Driver 3 had spoken among themselves about being careful not to cause any controversy.
The Fate of ‘The Second Signal’
The conversation inevitably turned to the delayed release of The Second Signal. The highly anticipated sequel faces an uncertain future after lead actor Cho Jin Woong admitted to a juvenile criminal record and announced his retirement. Filming had already been completed, with the show originally slated to air later this year.
Lee shared his honest thoughts on how cast issues can impact a project. “It’s hard when a project’s value is deminished because of such issues,” he said. “Every project reflects the hard work and dedication of many people, and I hope that effort isn’t overlooked or forgotten.”
Meanwhile, Taxi Driver continues to be a massive success. The franchise has maintained its popularity for five years since its 2021 debut, with Season 3 concluding on January 10 with a stellar final episode rating of 13.3%.
