BTS is already breaking records months before their official return.
The global superstars’ upcoming album, ARIRANG, has surpassed 2 million pre-saves on Spotify in just four days, making them the first K-pop act, Asian artist or group in history to achieve this milestone. Pre-saves surged from 564,000 on day one to over 2.02 million by day four following the launch of pre-orders on January 16th.
Ahead of the album’s release on March 20th, members RM, Jimin and V shared messages about recapturing the energy of their debut days, building anticipation for the 14-track project and subsequent world tour.
Mexico Prepares for “Historic” Shows
The excitement isn’t limited to Korea. In Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum publicly praised BTS ahead of their highly anticipated concerts in Mexico City this May. She called the upcoming shows “historic,” highlighting the immense enthusiasm among young fans who have waited years for the group’s return.
BTS is scheduled to perform at the GNP Seguros Stadium on May 7th, 9th and 10th.
Government Intervention on Ticketing
However, the massive demand has led to controversy. Following over 4,000 complaints from fans regarding seat allocation and pricing, the Mexican Federal Consumer Protection Agency (PROFECO) has stepped in.
The agency announced that the government will now oversee the ticketing process for the BTS concerts. Vendors will be required to disclose seat maps, pricing, and sales conditions. They must also ensure the protection of buyers’ personal information to prevent scalping and fraud.
