Ahn Bo Hyun has revealed the surprising reason he retired from MC duties.
Spring Fever stars Ahn Bo Hyun and Lee Joo Bin appeared on popular YouTube talk show Salon Drip on January 6th.
During the episode, Jang Do Yeon brought up a shared memory of co-hosting the 2020 MBC Entertainment Awards with Ahn Bo Hyun. The actor dropped a bombshell confession, saying it was a memory he would rather forget.
“My eyesight isn’t good, and my color blindness also didn’t help,” Ahn confessed. “I couldn’t just rely on cue cards, so I tried to read the teleprompter, but the text color was too similar to Jang Do Yeon’s, so I couldn’t tell which line was mine. Even after they changed the text color and size, I still couldn’t read it. It was incredibly frustrating.”
Feeling angry with himself after the show, Ahn decided to get SMILE LASIK surgery.
“I was squinting so much. My friends probably would have known exactly what was happening,” he laughed. “I haven’t emceed a show since then. I only do weddings now.”
The co-stars also opened up about their bond while filming Spring Fever.
“People told me he is very down-to-earth, and he really is,” Lee Joo Bin shared. “We filmed for six to seven months, with 90% of it on location in Pohang, so it felt like we were living together. We went through a lot, so there’s a sense of camaraderie.”
Ahn Bo Hyun was candid about their on-screen romance. “Since the genre is a rom-com, there was a lot of physical contact, which made us feel closer,” he admitted. Lee Joo Bin laughed and agreed, saying, “I wanted to say that too, but I was too embarrassed!”
Lee Joo Bin also revealed her initial shock after seeing the original work the drama is based on. “I wondered if we would film all the scenes as they were quite intense,” she confessed. “I thought I wouldn’t be able to do it.”
Ahn Bo Hyun clarified that the TV adaptation is much tamer. “The drama isn’t something you need to overthink,” he assured viewers. “It’s suitable for family viewing.”
