News of the late Ahn Sung Ki has made headlines all around Korea. After his passing, the entertainment world has been mourning the veteran actor both online and in person. Now, a slew of Korean stars were seen paying their respects to the departed.
Ahn Sung Ki passed away yesterday (the 5th) morning at the age of 74. His wake has been set up at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, and the funeral will proceed for five days as a “film industry funeral.” Actors Jung Woo Sung and Lee Jung Jae are together at the wake of the late Ahn Sung Ki, serving as chief mourners.
The portrait at the wake is reportedly a photograph taken by photographer Koo Bon Chang during the filming of the movie Our Joyful Young Days, a picture said to be Ahn Sung Ki’s wife’s favorite.
His wife, Oh So Young, and children are listed as chief mourners. However, Jung Woo Sung and Lee Jung Jae, actors from Artist Company (the agency the deceased was last affiliated with) and his junior colleagues, have joined the bereaved family in receiving mourners.
That evening, the two actors were also present when Minister Choi Whee Young of Korea’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Organization visited the wake to posthumously award the late Ahn Sung Ki with the Geumgwan (Gold Crown) Order of Cultural Merit.

Immediately after the wake was set up, numerous figures visited to pay their respects. These included singer Cho Yong Pil, a friend of the late actor of over 60 years, actor Park Joong Hoon, who frequently collaborated with Ahn Sung Ki, Kim Dong Ho, and former executive chairman of the Busan International Film Festival. Alongside this, the growing list included visits from Park Jung Ja, Tae Jin Ah, Choi Soo Jong, Park Sang Won, Lee Ki Young, Kwon Sang Woo, Shin Hyun Joon, Song Seung Heon, Kim Dong Hyun, Geo Ryong, director Lee Joon Ik, critic Yim Jin Mo, Cho Kuk, leader of the Rebuilding Korea Party, and Bae Hyun Jin, a National Assembly member from the People Power Party.
