Song Ji Hyo has shocked her castmates and fans alike by revealing she had a secret, long-term boyfriend for nearly a decade.
During the December 14th episode of Running Man, fellow cast member Jee Seok Jin casually asked Song about her dating history. “When was your last boyfriend? How long did you date?” he inquired.
Song’s answer left everyone stunned. “About four or five years ago? It was a long relationship. It lasted about eight years,” she confessed.
The revelation completely blindsided Jee Seok Jin and guest Kang Hoon. “What did he do for a living? I truly had no idea,” Ji exclaimed. Song calmly sipped her coffee and replied, “I didn’t mention it because you never asked.”
Still reeling, Jee Seok Jin repeatedly asked if the footage could even be aired. “I never once asked, so I couldn’t have imagined you were in such a long relationship,” he said. “Is it someone we know?”
Song clarified, “No. It’s someone you guys don’t know at all,” confirming he was a non-celebrity.
The news sent shockwaves through the set. “Eight years? You must have had a really tough time when you broke up,” Kang Hoon remarked. The production staff even chimed in, joking, “We’re even more surprised than we would be by news of Kim Jong Kook’s marriage!”
Song Ji Hyo has been a beloved original member of Running Man for 15 years since joining in 2010. This confession means she managed to maintain a serious, 8-year relationship entirely out of the public eye during the height of her variety show fame.
