Junho shared behind-the-scenes stories from tvN’s weekend drama Typhoon Family during an interview with Sports Chosun on the morning of December 2nd.
The actor also opened up about the on-screen romance between Kang Tae Poong and Oh Mi Seon (Kim Min Ha). “‘Typhoon Family’ ultimately wants to deliver not only a message about the passion of a salaryman, but also a big message about love,” he said. “It’s a story about the love you share with family, coworkers, and a partner. For Tae Poong, without Mi Seon during those difficult times, he wouldn’t have been able to endure it. Their hardships naturally led to romance, and in that situation, love felt like the most obvious outcome.”
He continued, “Love still exists, even when it’s hard. Of course, how viewers receive that intention is up to them. But the Tae Poong I envisioned saw Mi Seon as his anchor—and as he grew the company, their love grew alongside it. Personally, though, if it were me? I think I might be more like Mi Seon. In a situation where you have to choose between work and love, like her early rejection of Tae Poong, I’d probably choose work.”
Junho also mentioned his 2PM bandmate Ok Taecyeon, who went public with his relationship with a non-celebrity in 2020 and recently announced his wedding for next spring. “It’s not that I’m against dating,” Junho said. “If things happen naturally, I’m ready to welcome it. A lot of actors and colleagues around me are starting new, happy chapters in their lives, so I naturally want to cheer them on.”
Typhoon Family follows the story of a rookie boss who suddenly becomes the head of a struggling trading company with no staff, no money, and nothing to sell in the middle of the 1997 IMF financial crisis. Junho played Tae Poong, a first-time CEO who refuses to give up even while standing in the eye of the storm.
The series stars Lee Junho, Kim Min Ha, Kim Min Seok, Gwon Han Sol, Lee Changhoon, and more, with a script by Jang Hyun and direction by producer Lee Najung (Fight for My Way, Love Alarm, See You in My 19th Life). The drama aired its finale on November 30th.
