Disney Plus’s upcoming original series The Remarried Empress has issued an apology after a controversy erupted over a costume prop resembling a German Nazi medal.
Production company Studio N released a statement on November 15th, saying, “We sincerely apologize for the discomfort caused by our oversight in inspecting a specific costume prop revealed this week,” adding that the team will “carefully and thoroughly replace the released photos and take follow-up measures to prevent recurrence.”
The issue surfaced after Disney Plus unveiled the first promotional stills for The Remarried Empress during its “Disney Plus Originals Preview 2025” event in Hong Kong on the 13th. Shortly after, social media users pointed out that the medal worn by Ju Ji Hoon in the photo looked similar to the Nazi Party Long Service Award in Gold (First Class), sparking swift backlash. In response, the production company acknowledged the inspection lapse and promised corrective action.

It has not yet been decided whether the scenes featuring the prop will be reshot or if the production will digitally remove the medal from existing footage.
Based on the hit web novel of the same name, The Remarried Empress is a romance-fantasy drama set in the fictional Eastern Empire.
