J.Y. Park, aka Park Jin Young, has sparked discussion after remarks in a pre-released clip from his upcoming Radio Star appearance.

The JYP Entertainment founder appeared alongside An So Hee, Boom, and Kwon Jin Ah where he shared lighthearted stories, reflected on his company’s achievements, and even reunited with former Wonder Girls member An So Hee for an impromptu dance performance—their first in 14 years.

However, a particular remark from Park drew criticism online. When hosts brought up TIME magazine’s ranking of JYP Entertainment as the world’s No. 3 and Korea’s No. 1 most sustainable growth company, Park humbly replied, “It’s all thanks to our artists. The old building was built by Rain and Wonder Girls, and the new one by Stray Kids and TWICE.”

While intended as praise, the comment sparked debate among fans, who felt he overlooked other major acts that significantly contributed to JYP’s success. Many pointed out that 2PM had long been reported as one of the company’s biggest revenue drivers, largely through touring, while GOT7 and Suzy of miss A also played major roles in boosting JYP’s global visibility—Suzy through her high-profile endorsements and acting projects, and GOT7 through their international tours and fandom power.

Online forums were quick to react, with some defending Park’s comment as a metaphorical acknowledgment of eras in JYP’s history, while others called it dismissive of groups whose efforts helped keep the company afloat during transitional years.

Elsewhere in the episode, Park expressed pride in Stray Kids’ ongoing Billboard streak, joking that his only job is to “pave the road” for their creativity. He also revealed that he gifted the group over 100 million KRW ($69,000) worth of gold as a token of appreciation—quipping, “Gold prices have gone up again, so I guess it was a good investment.”

Park also shared plans to open an organic cafeteria and meal delivery service at JYP’s new headquarters, emphasizing that “sincerity matters in food just like it does in music.” The veteran producer ended on a lighter note, talking about life as a father of two daughters, both of whom, he proudly said, have “the performer’s DNA.”

Episode featuring J.Y. airs November 5th at 10:30 PM KST on MBC.
