Choi Woo Shik is ready to dive into romance again—this time opposite Jung So Min—in SBS’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Would You Marry Me.
The series follows two strangers who agree to a 90-day fake marriage in order to win the ultimate newlywed prize: a luxury newlywed apartment. Choi plays Kim Woo Ju, the flawless heir to Korea’s most famous bakery empire, while Jung stars as Yoo Me Ri, who becomes his reluctant bride.
In a written interview, Choi revealed what drew him to the project: “I was curious to see how Woo Ju and Me Ri’s story would unfold and where it would end,” he said. “I was also looking forward to working with director Song and with Jung So Min.”
Asked to rate his chemistry with Jung, Choi didn’t hesitate: “100 out of 100.” He added, “The most meaningful part of filming this project was getting to know actress Jung So Min. On set, no matter what the scene was, she acted with such ease that as her partner, I found myself learning a lot.”
Choi picked Woo Ju and Me Ri’s first meeting as his most memorable scene. “In real life, a first encounter like that might not be beautiful at all. But because it was such a striking moment, it really stuck with me,” he shared. “I hope viewers look forward to that scene as the true beginning of Woo Ju and Me Ri’s inseparable bond.”
Describing his character, Choi said, “Woo Ju is someone who grew up without receiving much love, so he carries a lot of loneliness. On the outside he seems indifferent, but deep down he’s sincere, warm, and believes in destiny. He loves Me Ri more than anyone else.”
Choi promised audiences more than just romance. “’Would You Marry Me’ isn’t only a rom-com. It’s got the fun of everything—human drama, mystery, even con artistry. It’s a show that men and women of all ages will be able to enjoy, and I hope everyone tunes in.”
Would You Marry Me premieres October 10th at 9:50 PM on SBS.
