
The 30th Busan International Film Festival has unveiled five films in its Korean Cinema Today – Special Premiere section.
The Great Flood, directed by Kim Byung Woo of The Terror Live, 2013, will have its world premiere at BIFF. Set during a catastrophic flood, the film follows people fighting to survive and be rescued. Kim Da Mi stars as AI researcher Anna, with Park Hae Soo as Hee Jo, a member of the lab’s security team.

Boss, an action comedy by Ra Hee Chan, is set in the tense days leading up to a gang boss election. The story follows a fierce yet comical battle among gang members, each trying to hand off the leadership role in pursuit of their own dreams. The film features Jo Woo Jin, Jung Kyung Ho, Park Ji Hwan and Lee Kyoo Hyung.

Actor-director Ha Jung Woo returns with The People Upstairs, which unravels over a dinner between an upstairs couple and a downstairs couple brought together by strange nightly noises. Ha also stars as Mr. Kim, adding depth to the film through his dual role as director and actor.

AUDITION 109, a sequel to Wish, tells the coming-of-age story of Jjangu, a young man who moves to Seoul to pursue his dream of becoming a movie star. Directed by Jung Woo in his feature directorial debut, the film also stars him in the lead role. The project reunites Jung with director Oh Seong Ho, who won three awards at BIFF 2021 for Through My Midwinter.

Project Y, from director Lee Hwan, follows two women caught up in a dangerous crime involving hidden gold bars. The film stars Han So Hee of My Name, 2021 and Jun Jong Seo of Ballerina, 2023; Bargain, 2022, promising intense suspense and chemistry.

The Korean Cinema Today – Special Premiere lineup will screen at the 30th Busan International Film Festival, taking place September 17th to 26th at the Busan Cinema Center and venues across the city.
