Choi Yoo Ri, who’s about to bring a fresh new zombie character to life in My Daughter Is a Zombie, was recently faced with a tough dilemma of choosing the best onscreen dad between Jo Jung Suk and Kim Woo Bin.
My Daughter Is a Zombie tells the story of a father’s struggle to protect his daughter, the last remaining zombie. Experiencing colored contact lenses and movie makeup for the first time in her life, Choi Yoo Ri smiled and stated, “It felt unfamiliar at first, but I was soon able to immerse myself.”
Choi Yoo Ri’s eyes sparkled as she recalled the moment she received the casting offer for My Daughter Is a Zombie, a moment she vowed never to forget. This was because she was an avid fan of the webtoon of the same name, which served as the basis for the film. She mentioned that she diligently followed every new episode as soon as it was released.
“I originally loved the webtoon so much, and it felt unbelievable that an opportunity to star in a live-action adaptation of it came to me,” she expressed. “Su Ah was my favorite character from the moment I started reading the webtoon, and to think that I would be playing Su Ah. It truly felt like a fated opportunity for me.”
Having previously portrayed the daughter of Kim Woo Bin in the film Alienoid, she now plays the daughter of Jo Jung Suk in this latest movie. She revealed that she still affectionately calls Jo Jung Suk “Dad” and looks up to him.
“During the filming of Alienoid, Kim Woo Bin was incredibly kind, gentle and warm towards me, and Jo Jung Suk was exactly the same,” she shared. “If there’s a difference between them, it’s that Jo Jung Suk was even more playful than Kim Woo Bin. He constantly cracked jokes and played pranks on set. Thanks to that, I felt really comfortable with Jo Jung Suk Dad from our very first meeting!”
