The family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron has filed criminal complaints against Kim Soo Hyun, accusing him of violating the Child Welfare Act and making false accusations. The claims were detailed during a press conference held on May 7th, 2025, in Seoul, led by the family’s attorney, Boo Ji Seok.
Attorney Boo Ji Seok announced that the family submitted a formal complaint against Kim Soo Hyun on May 7th. The lawsuit centers on claims that Kim Soo Hyun engaged in an inappropriate relationship with Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. A recording from January 2025, made in New Jersey, was presented, in which Kim Sae Ron reportedly told a friend she dated Kim Soo Hyun from her middle school years through her university entrance.
Kim Sae Ron said in the recording, made on January 10th and revealed during the press conference: “I first had sexual intercourse with Kim Soo Hyun during the winter break of my second year in middle school. When I think about it, maybe I should say I was taken advantage of. Hardly anyone knows we dated back then, but the few who do all react the same way — they ask why I’m not doing anything about it and say I must be completely out of my mind.”
Boo Ji Seok cited Article 17, Clause 2 of the Child Welfare Act, which penalizes acts of sexual abuse, harassment, or indecent behavior toward minors. He stated, “The family has evidence that Kim Soo Hyun committed sexual misconduct toward Kim Sae Ron starting from her second year of middle school winter break, when she was a minor.” The family also accused Kim Soo Hyun of malicious prosecution, claiming he knowingly filed a false accusation against them despite knowing their claims were true, in an attempt to have them criminally punished.
Bribery Claims Involving Lee Jin Ho and Gold Medalist Over Kim Sae Ron’s Final Audio Files
Kim Se Ui, operator of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (also known as Hover Lab Inc.), claimed that a source assisting Kim Sae Ron’s family was approached by both Lee Jin Ho and Gold Medalist in an attempt to purchase key evidence for billions of won.
According to Kim, the source faced serious threats after refusing the offers. He alleged that YouTuber Lee Jin Ho somehow obtained the source’s phone number, despite never being given it, and contacted them directly. A director from Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, reportedly offered 4 billion won (approximately $2.8 million) for the voice recordings Kim Sae Ron left before her passing, while Lee Jin Ho allegedly offered 1 billion won ($700,000).
In one recording, the source asked Lee Jin Ho whether he was affiliated with Gold Medalist or a journalist named Kang Kyung Yoon. Lee denied ties to Gold Medalist but acknowledged having good communication with Kang. When questioned about the 1 billion won offer, Lee Jin Ho allegedly replied, “I’m doing this to survive. I can make it happen however you want.”
Source With Kim Sae Ron’s Voice Recording Attacked, FBI Investigation Underway
Kim Se Ui, a YouTube channel operator, revealed that a 90-minute audio recording exists in which the late Kim Sae Ron discusses serious criminal allegations involving actor Kim Soo Hyun. The recording, made with Kim Sae Ron’s consent on January 10, 2025 (Eastern Time), is currently in the possession of the source.
On April 30th, 2025, the source was reportedly attacked in the U.S. by two assailants from South Korea and China, who stabbed them nine times in the neck. According to Kim Se Ui, the attack was premeditated and carried out by individuals who had entered the country via JFK Airport. The incident is now under investigation by the FBI.
Additionally, suspicious vehicles have been spotted near the residence of Kim Sae Ron’s aunt. The family and Kim Se Ui are urgently requesting police protection amid ongoing safety concerns.
Kim Soo Hyun’s Response
Ahead of the press conference, Kim Soo Hyun’s team expressed concern over what they called the spread of false information. They stated, “We are deeply troubled by the continued dissemination of unverified claims about Kim Soo Hyun. We kindly ask media outlets to verify facts with us before publishing to prevent the spread of falsehoods and further harm.” Kim Soo Hyun has previously denied allegations of dating Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor, calling evidence presented by her family fabricated, and has filed a 12 billion won ($8.4 million) defamation lawsuit against them and others involved.
