Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon had to cancel her solo concert in Japan due to a surprising reason—her equipment failed to arrive on time. The incident highlights yet another case of poor planning and execution, potentially adding to Taeyeon’s ongoing dissatisfaction with her agency, SM Entertainment.

On April 17, SM Entertainment announced on its official Japanese website that Taeyeon’s 10th anniversary solo concert had been canceled. Titled The TENSE, the show was originally scheduled for April 19–20 at Ariake Arena in Tokyo.

The agency explained, “The concert was scheduled to be held at Ariake Arena on April 19th and 20th, but the equipment currently being used for the Asia tour is still in transit to Japan. As it has not arrived, we are unable to fully prepare for the show.”

They added, “After multiple discussions with relevant parties and exploring every possible solution, we concluded that it would be impossible to hold the concert in optimal condition. Therefore, we have decided to cancel the shows.”

SM Entertainment also stated, “We are currently exploring the possibility of rescheduling the concert. We will provide further updates as soon as plans are finalized.”

Taeyeon has previously expressed her frustrations with SM Entertainment. Last year, she sat out of the agency’s 30th-anniversary SMTOWN concert, sparking rumors of internal conflict. Earlier this year, she told fans that while she was eager to perform multiple songs, the company failed to support her preparations, which ultimately led her to pull out of the show. She emphasized that her absence wasn’t due to a lack of will, but rather the company’s lack of support—an issue that has left her seriously reconsidering her future.
