Kang Ha Neul is once again winning hearts with his sincerity—this time, for his refreshingly honest take on dating. The star, often dubbed one of Korea’s “nicest guys in showbiz,” revealed his preference for dating non-celebrities and shared a charming story from his pre-fame days.
In the April 12th episode of the YouTube show “Life84,” Kang appeared alongside actor Park Hae Joon to promote their upcoming film Yadang: The Snitch. During the candid conversation with host Kian84, the topic turned to love and relationships.
Kian84 asked, “I heard you don’t date celebrities. Is that true?” Kang replied thoughtfully, “It’s not that I would never date someone in the industry. But there’s a lot you learn while dating someone, and I find myself more curious and drawn to a completely different life experience.”
The actor added that, so far, he has only dated women outside the entertainment industry, prompting playful teasing from Kian84, who joked, “Is that what excites you—different jobs? Are you the king of dating non-industry ladies?”
Kang also opened up about a sweet moment from his youth. “When I was 20, I was on the subway and saw a woman across from me talking on the phone. She just had this kind and gentle energy about her,” he recalled. “So I wrote a note that said, ‘I promise I’m not a weird person, but if you’re open to it, would you have coffee with me sometime?’ and I wrote my number.” He added with a laugh, “I handed it to her with both hands and my head down, just in case she felt scared.”
Kian84 was impressed with the story, commenting, “That took guts.”
Fans praised Kang Ha Neul for his grounded and sincere approach to love, admiring his humility even at the height of stardom.
Meanwhile, Kang Ha Neul and Park Hae Joon star in the upcoming film Yadang: The Snitch, a thought-provoking drama about justice and choice, set to meet audiences soon.
