The police investigation into a Japanese woman in her 50s, accused of forcibly kissing BTS member Jin, has been temporarily suspended.
On March 31st, Songpa Police revealed that they had subpoenaed the woman in a case related to public indecency under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. However, due to the significant time expected before she can be interviewed, authorities have decided to pause the investigation for now.
Under police investigation guidelines, a case may be placed on hold if the suspect is abroad for over two months and unavailable for questioning, though the case itself remains active.
The incident took place on June 13th, 2023, just one day after Jin completed his military service. It occurred during a hug event at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul, attended by 1,000 fans. During the event, the woman kissed Jin on the cheek.
Jin’s visibly startled reaction quickly drew attention, sparking widespread criticism and labeling the act as sexual harassment. The controversy intensified when the woman later wrote on her blog, “My lips brushed his neck. His skin was unbelievably soft,” prompting further outrage.
As part of the investigation, police also identified another woman alleged to have harassed Jin at the same event, though her identity and location remain unknown.
A police official commented, “We intend to resume the investigation as soon as A is available for questioning.”
