It was belatedly revealed that ADOR filed an injunction to completely suspend all activities of NJZ, formerly NewJeans. This builds upon the previous injunction from January, which prevented NJZ from signing new advertising deals and finding a new agency.
The parents of NJZ members took to their Instagram (@njz_pr) on March 6th, saying, “ADOR expanded their injunction request on February 11th, asking for a ban not just on ads, but also on NJZ’s songwriting, composing, performing, singing and all other related activities.”
The parents added, “This decision came immediately after we learned that Bang Si Hyuk had pressured officials regarding the Hong Kong concert. We believe this was a retaliatory action, as the attempt to cancel the concert was unsuccessful.”
Previously, on February 19th, the parents claimed that Bang Si Hyuk had called officials in an attempt to cancel NewJeans’ participation in their Hong Kong event, a claim that ADOR completely denied.
The parents also noted that while ADOR publicly shared details of injunction requests regarding advertising restrictions and maintaining its agency status, they omitted the request for a complete activity ban. They stated, “Just a few days ago, ADOR kept saying it only had issues with NJZ’s independent activities. However, it never revealed that its injunction request actually aimed to stop NJZ from all entertainment activities. ADOR claims it only wants to regulate NJZ’s advertising to avoid confusion for fans and brands. But in reality, it is asking the court to ban NJZ from all entertainment activities.”
In response, ADOR explained, “NJZ announced a new song and a major overseas performance while our injunctions to confirm our status as their agency were still in progress. As a result, we had no choice but to expand our injunction request.” ADOR also said, “We’re not trying to stop their activities—we just want to make sure they continue their career ‘with ADOR’ and follow their contract.”
Meanwhile, a hearing regarding this injunction request is scheduled to take place on March 7th at the Seoul Central District Court.
