Lee Hyun Wook has candidly shared his feelings about the adult-rated scenes in The Queen Who Crowns. In an interview with SPOTVNEWS today, the actor revealed, “I was personally very shocked when I saw the scenes.”
Lee recently completed the tvN X TVING original drama The Queen Who Crowns, where he left a powerful impression portraying the human side of King Lee Bang Won. The series concluded on February 11th.
Addressing the mature content in the drama, Lee expressed, “I’m someone who avoids showing skin. Because these are historical figures and we’re using their real names, such scenes could be seen as disrespectful.” He continued, “But truthfully, there isn’t much I can say. I saw Joo Young’s interviews thoroughly, but I regret the lack of communication between the production team and actors. We should have communicated more. I was truly shocked when I watched the scene. I cried a lot and was in pain while watching it.”
The actor further revealed his personal struggles: “I spent a lot of time doubting my acting performance,” adding, “To be honest, I was scared of doing interviews. While people outside were saying they enjoyed watching it, inside, I felt like ‘Kill Bang Won’ was doing a sword dance.”
“I felt like I wouldn’t recover from these feelings. But I’m actually very thankful I could do this interview. If I hadn’t done interviews, I think those feelings would have lingered,” Lee shared.
He added, “I thought I needed to express my gratitude to those who worked hard on ‘The Queen Who Crowns.’ I didn’t think just leaving a one-line message saying ‘well done’ on SNS would be enough.”
