Both Son Na Eun and Minho started their careers in the K-pop industry, with Son debuting in 2011 as part of Apink and Minho in 2008 as a member of SHINee. Over the years, the two have maintained a close relationship in the industry through music shows and variety programs. They also briefly worked together in the 2017 tvN drama The Last Blossom.
The star shared her thoughts on working with Minho, saying, “Since we’re around the same age and have crossed paths during various shows, he made me feel comfortable. There was already a sense of familiarity, so filming together was really fun.”
She added that Minho brought great energy to the set, frequently boosting positivity on set with phrases like “We can do it!” and “Let’s go!”
Regarding her character Mi Rae’s relationship with Minho’s character, Tae Pyeong, she said, “For Mi Rae, Tae Pyeong feels like a safe haven.” She recalled, “There were a lot of cute scenes where we exchanged notes in the elevator. I found myself thinking, ‘Is this what workplace romance is like?’ As we got more comfortable, the scenes flowed naturally.”
Minho had previously mentioned that he stayed quiet on set during the early stages of filming. On this, Son Na Eun commented, “I’m shy too, so I thought, ‘Is he shy as well? Okay, it might be awkward for a while, but it’ll get better.'”
She laughed as she added, “Turns out it was all part of his plan, and I was the only one left in the dark. I felt a little betrayed but in a funny way. Eventually, we both loosened up, started joking around, and got close pretty quickly.”
Son Na Eun complimented the approach, saying, “I think it actually helped develop Mi Rae and Tae Pyeong’s relationship on screen. It ended up being a brilliant idea.”
Recalling the scene where her character’s feelings for Minho’s character shifted from friendship to romance, Son Na Eun highlighted a moment when they supported each other during an emotional scene in the rain. “Facing difficult moments together brought the characters closer. It felt like a kind of intense comradeship,” she reflected.
