Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin to Play Publicity Couple in New MBC Drama by ‘Melancholia’ Writer

MBC has just greenlit a captivating new Friday-Saturday drama, The Number You Have Dialed (literal title), confirming the casting of Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin as the leads. This series, inspired by a popular web novel, revolves around a publicity couple who barely speak to each other. Their routine life takes a dramatic turn when they receive a threatening call from a kidnapper.

Yoo Yeon Seok will take on the role of Baek Sa Yeon, a member of the polished political family and the youngest presidential spokesperson, also noted for his background as a hostage negotiator and a leading public television anchor. His character is a political elite whose life is upended when he receives a call that his wife has been kidnapped.

Chae Soo Bin plays Hong Hee Ju, the daughter of a media mogul. Despite suffering from selective mutism due to a childhood accident, she is a talented sign language interpreter working in courts and networks. The drama escalates when Hee Ju is a bducted, sparking her to seek a change from her publicity-only marriage.

The script for The Number You Have Dialed is penned by Kim Ji Woon, known for works like Melancholia and Doctor John, while the direction is helmed by The Forbidden Marriage director Park Sang Woo.
