Netflix has just greenlit its latest series, Melo Movie, promising a fresh youth romance that has already sparked significant interest thanks to its stellar cast. The series, set against the backdrop of the film industry, explores the lives of young individuals as they navigate through their ambiguous positions in life, find each other, and overcome their personal traumas together.
The pairing of Choi Woo Shik and Park Bo Young is particularly captivating. Choi Woo Shik will portray Go Kyum, a character who transitions from a bit part actor to a critic, embodying a man deeply in love with cinema. Park Bo Young is set to play Kim Moo Bie, a character drawn into the film industry out of a mix of resentment for her father and curiosity about movies. Go Kyum’s unexpected entrance into Moo Bie’s life promises to be a catalyst for change.
Adding to the ensemble are Lee Jun Young and Jeon So Nee. Lee Jun Young takes on the role of Hong Si Jun, a self-proclaimed genius who faces the harsh reality of being an unknown composer. Jeon So Nee will appear as Si Jun’s ex-girlfriend and a screenplay writer, Son Ju Ah.
The direction of Melo Movie is in the capable hands of Oh Chung Hwan, known for his emotional depth and storytelling in hits like Castaway Diva, Big Mouth, Start-Up, and Hotel Del Luna. Moreover, Our Beloved Summer writer Lee Na Eun is teaming up with Choi Woo Shik for the second time, promising another compelling narrative.
