Alienoid: Return to the Future has surpassed 700,000 viewers, securing the number-one spot at the box office for seven consecutive days.

The movie mobilized 41,083 moviegoers nationwide on the 16th and remained at the top of the box office, according to the Korea Film Council’s report on January 17th. The cumulative total has now reached 733,248 viewers.

The science fiction film, released on January 10th, has experienced a drop in daily attendance to below 50,000, signaling a potential decline in its performance despite its success over the second week since its opening weekend. The film is now unlikely to reach the break-even point of 7 million. Instead, there is a greater likelihood that it will surpass the previous audience count of Alienoid: Part 1, which attracted 1.54 million viewers upon its release in July 2022.

However, Alienoid: Return to the Future may even fall short of surpassing the audience count of Alienoid: Part 1. While Part One was released during the peak season of July, Part Two debuted in the opposite season in January. On top of that, Citizen of a Kind is anticipated to pose a threat when it hits theaters in the fourth week of January. The winter season proves to be challenging for Alienoid: Return to the Future on multiple fronts.
