Hwang Jung Eum recently opened up about her decision to stay in her marriage during an episode of SBS’ My Little Old Boy.
The actress revealed the reason behind her quick decision to marry her current husband after only ten months of dating. She explained, “Back then, I was completely infatuated with him. In my eyes, he seemed perfect from head to toe.”
However, she candidly shared that her perception had changed over time. “He doesn’t look as handsome to me anymore, and being in a marriage doesn’t make my heart flutter. My biggest regret in life is marrying him,” she confessed, leaving everyone on set surprised. She added with a touch of humor, “But that’s just the way life goes. Isn’t it interesting that I can’t think of a single thing I like about him now?”
Reflecting on what she considered the worst decision in her life, Hwang Jung Eum mentioned that she had once contemplated divorce. “I actually told my parents about it a day before the news of our divorce broke out. I reassured them not to worry about me in our family group chat. But their concerns were mostly about my husband, not me,” she shared.
Her decision to divorce initially shocked her parents, but she later had a change of heart and chose to continue her marriage. Explaining the shift in her perspective, she said, “I believe we reconciled because my husband became more considerate of the things I disliked and because I still loved him.”
Seo Jang Hoon lightened the mood by chiming in, “In the end, Hwang Jung Eum is happily married and not divorced. Just to clear up any misunderstandings, she is still married,” eliciting laughter from the audience.
