Rumors are quickly spreading that BLACKPINK’s Lisa has not renewed her contract with YG Entertainment. Amidst swirling rumors, the company released an official statement to address them.
BLACKPINK, which debuted in August 2016, celebrated the seventh anniversary of their debut this year. Regarding the contract renewal of the group members, no official statement has been issued yet.
Whether Lisa will renew her contract with the agency has been drawing particularly much attention following her recent dating rumors with Frédéric Arnault, CEO of Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer.
A Chinese agency reported in July that it would be difficult for Lisa to follow her future schedule due to the uncertainty of her contract renewal with YG Entertainment. In response, the company briefly stated, “We had to cancel some of Lisa’s August schedules due to the BLACKPINK tour and her personal commitments, and these cancellations are unrelated to her contract renewal. The renewal is currently under discussion.”
Despite the label’s official statement, rumors continued to circulate that Lisa had turned down YG’s offer after being promised tens of billions of won from a new agency.
Nevertheless, YG Entertainment emphasized once again, “We are in discussions regarding the contract renewal with Lisa. The alleged reports have not been officially confirmed,” in a statement released on the 15th.
Meanwhile, it still remains unknown whether the rest of the members will renew their contracts with the company.
