BLACKPINK’s Jennie and Lily-Rose Depp have offered a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes of their highly-anticipated series, The Idol.
On May 30th (local time), Entertainment Tonight unveiled an interview with Jennie, who made her acting debut in the drama The Idol alongside her co-stars Lily-Rose Depp and Troye Sivan.
The host posed an intriguing question to Jennie, asking, “Jennie, you’re literally a K-pop idol. So, did you give Lily any advice? Any K-pop idol tips?” To this, Jennie responded, “We did have this conversation a long time ago when we did not know that I was going to be a part of The Idol with Lily. I don’t quite remember which tip I gave her.”
Lily-Rose Depp chimed in, “I actually got to see BLACKPINK and Jennie live not that long ago, and it was so much fun. I had the best time ever.”
Regarding the reactions of BLACKPINK members, Jennie revealed, “When I was filming for The Idol last year, it was while we were filming the music video for our latest album ‘Born Pink’. So they just checked in on me every day; they would call me when I was in LA shooting, just making sure that I was doing all right on my own. Today, Jisoo texted me saying, ‘You look beautiful. I’m so happy for you.'”
In another interview released the same day by Extra TV, Jennie hinted, “I had to do a lot of dancing in the show, which came to me very naturally since it’s something that I do. I just want to say that you have to watch it in the show to find out (about what I brought into the show from my own experiences).”
The Idol is a drama set in Los Angeles, narrating the stories of love and passion in the entertainment world surrounding a popular pop star. It consists of a total of six episodes and airs on HBO MAX in the States. However, the media has criticized the show for excessive erotic scenes and elements reminiscent of revenge porn.
