Song Ji Hyo is set to commence legal proceedings against her former agency, Uzurocks, due to their failure to make a timely payment as per their agreement. Despite the scheduled date for payment having passed, the actress has yet to receive the outstanding amount owed to her, prompting her to take legal action.
Although Uzurocks had initially promised to pay the actress by May 1st, they later reneged on their agreement and informed her that the settlement would be provided on May 4th, causing frustration and prompting legal action on her part.
An official representing the actress revealed, “We had been waiting for the payment that was due to be made on May 1st, but the agency suddenly altered the deadline to May 4th. This is akin to delayed payment of wages to employees, and it’s not the first time that the agency has postponed the payment. Regrettably, we have been left with no choice but to take legal action to resolve this matter.”
Sports Seoul reported that Song Ji Hyo signed an exclusive contract with Uzurocks without receiving any down payment. Under the terms of the contract, she was to receive payment directly from TV networks for her appearances on Running Man and other programs. However, the revenue from TV advertisements and other activities was to be shared between the company and Song Ji Hyo. The dispute between the two parties arose due to the unpaid settlement of brand endorsement fees.
Uzurocks has recently come under fire for not only delaying employee payments but also failing to pay their social insurance premiums. Meanwhile, Uzurocks CEO Park Ju Nam recently resigned, taking responsibility for the controversy surrounding Song Ji Hyo’s unpaid settlement and employee wage arrears. However, Song Ji Hyo’s side insists on holding both the company and Park Ju Nam accountable for the issue.
