MONSTA X is forming its first unit since its debut, with Shownu and Hyungwon taking center stage.
According to a TV Report, the Shownu and Hyungwon unit is preparing to make their debut this summer. As MONSTA X’s main dancer and lead dancer, respectively, the duo is expected to showcase spectacular visuals and powerful performances, creating the ultimate synergy.
This upcoming unit is particularly notable as it will be the first activity for leader Shownu since completing his mandatory military service. Shownu, the eldest member of MONSTA X, enlisted in the military as a social service agent in July 2021 and was discharged on April 21st this year.
Hyungwon is known as the most versatile member of MONSTA X, with activities in team performances, DJing, acting, and recently joining as an MC for SBS’s Inkigayo. He has also proven his producing capabilities with his self-composed song “Nobody Else” on MONSTA X’s third full album and by producing tracks like AB6IX’s “Complicated,” and MONSTA X member Kihyun’s solo album songs “Bad Liar” and “Where Is This Love.”
Last month, Minhyuk enlisted in active duty, leaving MONSTA X as a five-member group. On the 22nd, Jooheon is set to release his first solo album eight years after his debut, further boosting the group’s individual activities. Following Jooheon’s solo release, Shownu and Hyungwon’s unit activities are expected to help alleviate fans’ longing for MONSTA X as a whole group.
