Netflix’s series Black Knight has released stills and kicked off its full-scale promotion.
Black Knight is set in a future Korean peninsula where extreme air pollution makes it impossible to live without an oxygen respirator. The story revolves around the legendary deliveryman “5-8” and a refugee named Sawol as they confront the Cheonmyeong Group, which rules the new world.
The top deliveryman 5-8 delivers oxygen during the day to support human survival while leading a double life as the “Black Knight” at night. Kim Woo Bin said that the most important aspect of his portrayal of 5-8 was his mindset, explaining, “I thought about why he acts this way and tried not to forget it.”
On the other hand, Ryu Seok, the heir of Cheonmyeong Group, seems far from desolation. Song Seung Heon described Ryu Seok as a character who thinks “small sacrifices are inevitable for a bigger good,” hinting that he has something planned.
Sawol, a refugee, hears about the deliveryman selection contest and seeks training from 5-8, moving toward an impossible dream. Kang Yoo Seok revealed that Sawol “faces many crossroads of choice” and that he “focused on showing his growth” in his performance.
Then there’s Lieutenant Seol Ah, a military intelligence officer investigating a kidnapping case in a general area, who sits face-to-face with 5-8. Esom described Seol Ah as someone with a sense of mission to protect the country, saying, “I tried not to lose my composure in any situation.”
Meanwhile, Black Knight will be released on Netflix on May 12th.
