Lee Min Ho denied allegations of tax evasion.
On March 2nd, it was reported that actor Lee Min Ho’s agency, MYM Entertainment, denied allegations of tax evasion. MYM Entertainment stated, “Lee Min Ho has faithfully paid his taxes and has never had any unfortunate incidents regarding taxes.”
They explained that the current situation stemmed from a discrepancy in interpretation regarding the taxability of compensation paid for the unlawful use of portrait rights of the artists under their management. Additionally, they clarified that the levying of extra taxes was due to an error in accounting processing during the corporate expense handling process, which they promptly paid.
On the same day, a media outlet reported that Lee Min Ho and MYM Entertainment went through an audit by the National Tax Service and were charged with several hundred million won in taxes. Similar allegations have also been made against actors Lee Byung Hun, Kwon Sang Woo and Kim Tae Hee, and their agencies have attributed the issue to accounting errors.
