Netflix has officially announced the production of its new original movie My Name is Loh Kiwan.

On the 7th, Netflix unveiled the stellar cast of My Name is Loh Kiwan. This new movie depicts the encounter, breakup, and love of Kiwan, a North Korean defector who arrives in Belgium, and Mari, a woman who lost all reasons for living.

Song Joong Ki, who recently announced his second marriage, makes a transformation into Loh Kiwan, the North Korean defector. He’ll show a new face as Loh Kiwan, who arrives in Belgium with nothing and tries to get recognized as a “refugee,” the only hope he has for his survival.

Starring opposite him is The Sound of Magic star Choi Sung Eun as Mari, a Korean of Belgian nationality who falls in love with Loh Kiwan (Song Joong Ki). Unlike Loh Kiwan, who traveled to Belgium for his life, Mari, a former sports shooter, has lost her reason to live. Despite the fact that they got off to a wrong start, they fall in love with each other.

Then there is Lee Sang Hee as Sun Joo, a Korean-Chinese co-worker in Loh’s factory, and Seo Hyun Woo as Loh’s uncle Eun Chul.

Meanwhile, My Name is Loh Kiwan is the debut feature film of Kim Hee Jin, who won multiple awards with the short film A Brand New Journey.
