Lee Jung Jae has been voted the most notable film actor of 2022.
From November 7th to 24th, Gallup Korea asked 1,771 people aged 13 and older to vote for the two most notable actors of 2022. Hunt’s Lee Jung Jae took the top spot with a score of 34.4 percent.
The actor won rave reviews for producing, screenwriting and starring in his action movie Hunt. He debuted in 1993 with Dinosaur Teacher and rose to fame through his 1995 TV series SBS’ Sandglass as the legendary bodyguard Baek Jae Hee.
Then he focused his career mostly in movies until he skyrocketed to global stardom for his role as Ki Hoon in Netflix’s Squid Game. He is currently set to star in Disney’s upcoming Star Wars series ‘The Acolyte.’
The second place went to Ma Dong Seok (18.8%). He received much love as beast detective Ma Seok Do in movie The Roundup, which was the only movie that surpassed 10 million movie-goers this year. He previously revealed that he already had eight scenarios in mind for The Outlaws franchise, which he would unravel one by one through the films. The first and second installments were released in 2017 and 2022, respectively, and the third installment is set to premiere in 2023.
Song Kang Ho (13.5%) took the third spot. He won the Best Actor Award at the 75th Cannes Film Festival this year for his role as Sang Hyeon in Hirokazu Kore-eda’s film Broker. He also starred as detective In Ho in the aviation disaster film titled Emergency Declaration. He left a strong impression in various projects, including The Attorney (2014), The Throne (2015), The Age of Shadows (2016) and A Taxi Driver (2017). However, out of all films he starred in, it was the 2019 dark comedy film Parasite that made him a worldwide star.
The rest of the top 10 are as follows: Youn Yuh Jung (7.7%), Hwang Jung Min and Jung Woo Sung (6.5%), Lee Byung Hun (6%), Hyun Bin (5.5%), Yoo Hae Jin (5.2%) and Son Suk Ku (5%).
