Hwang Minhyun is returning as a genius young master driven to the brink of despair.
On Thursday, tvN’s Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow dropped new still photos of Hwang Minhyun, who plays the role of Seo Yul.
Alchemy of Souls is a fantasy romance drama set in a country that doesn’t exist in history or on maps. It follows the protagonists whose fate has been twisted due to the soul-shifting magic. Set three years after when Part 1 ended, Part 2 tells the story of the mages and Jang Uk, who’s returned from the dead.
The released stills show Hwang Minhyun, whose face has turned conspicuously haggard. His piercing eyes herald his comeback as a man struggling in pain that others don’t know about. In the second season, Hwang Minhyun will showcase an impressive presence, going back and forth between a man facing a crisis and a pure-hearted man who still keeps his first love in his heart.
The production team shared, “In the play, Seo Yul spent his childhood with Nak Su. Please look forward to what kind of a relationship he’ll form with the woman who looks just like her with her memories gone.”
Meanwhile, in Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow, Go Youn Jung appears as a mysterious woman with Nak Su’s face. The show will premiere on December 10th at 9:10 PM KST.
