Two Friday-Saturday dramas have faced an entirely different fate as Big Mouth started to see ratings rise and Today’s Webtoon plummet to an all-time low.
MBC’s Big Mouth revolves around a struggling lawyer who gets mistaken for an infamous con artist named ‘Big Mouse.’ To protect his family, he sets out to clear his name by unearthing the dirty secrets of the high society. Its fourth episode achieved an average nationwide rating of 8.6 percent, seeing a sharp rise from the 6.2 percent that its premiere episode achieved. Fans are excited to see how Lee Jong Suk will survive his fall and find the real culprit to clear his name. Plus, the chemistry between YoonA and Lee Jong Suk is also winning favorable reviews from many fans as they portray a realistic married couple. Following Pinocchio and I Hear Your Voice, many say that the actor’s decision to star in this drama was right.
On the other hand, SBS’Today’s Webtoon is seeing a decline in ratings. Its fourth episode dipped to an average nationwide rating of 3.1 percent from its premiere’s 4.1 percent. Such a drop in ratings would be hard to justify, as almost all SBS’ Friday-Saturday dramas, except this series, had been successful throughout the year. Although it is filled with heart-warming stories, the show is receiving mixed reviews for its strong focus on giving “lessons” to viewers. Some said the first few episodes were too slow-paced to attract new audience, but the show is likely to gain more viewers as it will unravel the story of On Ma Eum (played by Kim Se Jeong) in its future episodes.
