‘Strong Woman Gang Nam Soon’ (literal title) has confirmed its stellar cast – Kim Jung Eun, Lee Yoo Mi, Ong Seong Wu, Kim Hae Sook, and Byeon Woo Seok.
Strong Woman Gang Nam Soon is a series that incorporates the expanded worldview of Strong Girl Bong-soon, the first K-drama to feature a female hero. The show centers around Gang Nam Soo, the second cousin of Do Bong Soon, who was born with a Herculean power, her mother Hwang Geum Joo, and her grandmother Gil Joong Gan. These three generations will join forces to uncover the reality of new drug crimes in Gangnam.
Hwang Geum Joo, a wealthy woman who consciously lives a just life and obsessively does good things in hopes of finding her lost daughter, is played by Kim Jung Eun. Squid Game actress Lee Yoo Mi plays Gang Nam Soon, an eccentric and energetic girl with Herculean power. After losing her parents in Mongolia, she returns to Korea, hoping to reunite with her parents.
Gang Nam Soon’s grandmother Gil Joong Gan, played by Tomorrow actress Kim Hae Sook, has dominated Majang-dong with skills she had acquired while running a butcher’s. Ong Seong Wu takes on the role of Kang Hee Sik, a member of the secret investigation team that chases after the drug crimes in Gangnam. The attractive villain Ryu Si Oh will be brought to life by Record of Youth star Byeon Woo Seok.
Meanwhile, Strong Woman Gang Nam Soon comes from Mine and Strong Girl Bong-soon writer Baek Mi Kyung and Work Later, Drink Now director Kim Jung Sik. The filming will begin this summer, and the series will premiere in the first half of next year.
