In a video interview with OSEN, Kim Dami talked about completing Our Beloved Summer. The actress three-dimensionally portrayed Kook Yeon Su, who goes through a whirlwind of emotions of reuniting with Choi Woong.
Q1. How do you feel about the popularity of ‘Our Beloved Summer’?
I didn’t expect to be loved by this many people. I enjoyed the scripts very much, and when I heard that I’ll star opposite Choi Woo Shik, I knew I was going to have fun. I had so much fun filming, and I thought people would like it if we had fun. Since I had a great time shooting, I’m just grateful that people loved the drama.
Q2. You reunited with Choi Woo Shik after ‘The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion.’ What was it like working with him again?
It was amazing. We had so much fun. I got to shoot comfortably since we were already so close. It was different from when we worked for the movie, but we worked as Woong and Yeon Su. Without Choi Woo Shik’s Woong, there wouldn’t have been Yeon Su. I relied on him. And since we were so close, it was a bit awkward when we had to film intimate scenes. But it got better later.
Q3. If you can work with Choi Woo Shik again, what kind of a role do you want to play?
Maybe it’s because we finished as a married couple in Our Beloved Summer. I’d like to play a married couple with him. I think I’ll get to film even more comfortably. Rather than a specific genre, I’d love to try things with various emotions. The action genre is nice, and a project with even more romance is also nice. I can have more fun in more diverse things with Choi Woo Shik.
Q4. How would you have felt if Kim Ji Woong (Kim Sung Chul) confessed his feelings to Kook Yeon Su?
I think we’d have just stayed friends. Yeon Su only had her eyes on Woong, so she would have been surprised by his confession. But to Yeon Su, Ji Woong isn’t as big as Woong, so she would have just told him straight.
Q5. Choi Woong vs. Jang Do Yul (Lee Joon Hyuk), which of them is Kim Dami’s dream guy/dating style?
Choi Woong is closer to my dream guy. Woong only loves one woman and tries his best for her. From Yeon Su’s point of view, Woong may seem like he doesn’t express his feelings that much. But he’s so awesome in a way that he only has his eyes on Yeon Su. The kind of dates I prefer depends on who I date. And I don’t have a specific type of dream guy, but I like someone I can communicate with.
Q6. You made back-to-back hits with ‘Itaewon Class‘ and ‘Our Beloved Summer.’ How do you choose your works?
I tend to choose the works I have fun reading the scripts and those I resonate with. I thought a lot about showing a new side of me different from what I’ve shown in my previous projects. So I guess I tend to get attracted to different things from my earlier projects. Also, rather than focusing on something specific, I make my decision based on my condition.
