Jung Hae In and Jisoo’s Controversial Drama ‘Snowdrop’ Becomes Most Popular Series on Disney+ in 4 Different Countries

The tides have turned for Snowdrop as it became the most popular series on Disney Plus in 4 different countries including Korea. According to Flix Patrol, Snowdrop ranked first in the Disney Plus Korea ‘Top 10 TV Shows’ chart as of the 4th.

The drama claimed first place in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea. It also saw a sharp rise in rankings from 10th to 3rd on January 1st In Japan.

Snowdrop has been released on Disney Plus in 5 different Asian countries. Due to the controversy over its political content, the average ranking of the show has seen a sharp drop to No. 5.8 as of January 1st. However, the drama is now seemingly bouncing back from its tough start.

Set in the backdrop of Seoul in June of 1987, Snowdrop tells a love story between a female college student and a North Korean spy. The series sparked controversy after the synopsis was released. It has been criticized for allegedly distorting history as it drew the male lead character as a North Korean spy disguised as a student activist who fought for democracy.

Additionally, viewers accused the drama of portraying the Agency for National Security Planning in a positive light, as it depicted the agents as good-hearted officials.
