BTS was named the star who has earned the most from commercials.
KBS’ Entertainment Weekly recently released the top 8 list of stars who have made a fortune by starring in commercials.
Eighth place went to Minari actress Youn Yuh Jung. After becoming the first Korean actress to win the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress, she rose as one of the highest-paid actresses in commercials. Bagging 300 million KRW (about $252,800) per commercial, the actress is now the face of a bank, a furniture brand, and a detergent company. This year, Youn has raked 2.1 billion KRW (about $1.77 million) from endorsement deals alone.
Following her are trot singer Lim Young Woong ($2.36 million), Blackpink’s Jennie ($4.21 million), and soccer player Son Heung Min ($5.06 million).
Jo Jung Suk ranked fourth by making about 7.7 billion KRW (about $6.49 million) from commercials this year. Third place went to Park Seo Joon, who even starred in Philippine and Indonesian ads, making about 9.8 billion KRW (about $8.25 million) in total by featuring in commercials.
Additionally, Jun Ji Hyun, the “CF queen,” came in second. The actress became the face of clothing, jewelry, shampoo, and food brands. She is paid about 1 billion KRW (about $842,410) per commercial and has earned about 15 billion KRW (about $12.64 million) this year.
Meanwhile, BTS took home about 65 billion KRW (about $54.76 million) this year, starring in 11 commercials.
