‘High Class‘ heralded the birth of women-centric drama.
On the 6th, tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday series High Class held its press conference with its director and actors. High Class is a mystery drama that takes place in a highly luxurious international school located on a paradise-like island. It revolves around a woman who encounters her husband’s mistress on the island.
Director Choi Byung Gil shared, “It shows the lives of lonely women within the glamorous packaging of life but follows their journey to find true happiness.” He added, “Personally, I think it’s going to be about a competition of who’s more pitiful.”
Cho Yeo Jeong plays Song Yeo Wool, a former lawyer who loses everything when she is framed for her husband’s murder. “When I first read the script, I felt bad for the women. I wanted to express it well and win women’s sympathy,” she said.
For the drama, Cho cut her hair short. “I thought a lot about how to portray my character. The stylist offered to cut my hair short, and it was exactly the image I had in mind.” The actress also mentioned playing the role of a mother. “The boy who plays my son is so lovely that I spent time with him even when we weren’t filming. And that chemistry we had was captured on cameras.”
Kim Ji Soo takes on the role of Nam Ji Seon, the “queen bee” among the mothers at the international school. “I’m a villain. She may seem like she has everything, but she’s an empty shell on the inside,” she commented.
Meanwhile, High Class will premiere today at 10:30 PM KST.
