Rosé’s ‘On The Ground’ MV Becomes the Most-Viewed YouTube K-pop Video in the First 24 Hours

Blackpink’s Rosé continues to sweep major global charts with her debut album. She recently set a new record on YouTube with her new smash as “the most-viewed video in the first 24 hours” and became “the most-watched” K-pop singer.

According to YouTube on the 16th (local time), Rosé’s “On The Ground” music video garnered 41.6 million views within 24 hours. This is the highest record among all K-pop solo artists in about 8 years since Psy. Moreover, she achieved the highest YouTube Premiere music video views when the “On The Ground” music video was first released on March 12th. As a solo artist, she achieved a record with more than 1.2 million users.

“On The Ground” sparked a heated response shortly after its release. Major foreign media outlets also rushed to report about it. Billboard dedicated an entire article for Rosé’s debut, while Teen Vogue ferreted out ten looks from her music video.

Britain’s major foreign media outlet THE INDEPENDENT also elaborated on Rosé’s shining performance. They wrote, “Congratulations to Rosé on her successful solo debut!”

The “On The Ground” music video topped YouTube’s most-watched video on the 12th, and it’s currently nearing 100 million views. Besides, Blackpink’s official YouTube subscribers, which have been steadily on the rise since Rosé’s album release, surpassed 58.8 million. They are now the world’s No. 1 female artist/group in terms of YouTube subscribers.

On the first day of its release, the song landed at No. 1 on the iTunes Top Song chart in 51 countries, as well as Worldwide Chart. It also ranked 8th on Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart on the 13th, and Rosé become the Korean solo artist with the most 24-hour streams on Spotify.

Rosé will continue the craze with her appearance on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on the 16th (local time).
