After dipping into a slump with Ji Soo’s acknowledgement of school violence, KBS2’s Mon-Tues series River Where the Moon Rises plans to fix this with actor Na In Woo. The decision was made to minimize the inconvenience felt by viewers who will be watching Ji Soo. Viewers are also sending messages of support for this decision.
The main problem was that Ji Soo was the male protagonist of River Where the Moon Rises. Of 20 total episodes, 18 episodes were in the process of being produced, and the drama had only aired until the 6th episode. The production crew of the series took the issue seriously, as they canceled the filming schedule since the 4th and went into a discussion for follow-up measures.
And on the 5th, KBS announced that “the 7th and 8th episodes will be aired with as many scenes of Ji Soo deleted, and episodes after the 9th will be re-filmed with a different actor,” officially dropping Ji Soo out of the show.
The series’ production company, Victory Contents also stated that they will do their best to complete a good work with a new actor. “We were also very confused about the incident, and have suffered huge financial damage. However, we have decided to film again, after settling with the network company,” they explained.
The actor to replace Ji Soo is Na In Woo. He will greet viewers as the new Ondal from the 9th episode of River Where the Moon Rises. Many are saying that he is suited to play the role of Ondal, especially with his innocent smile and recent experience in tvN’s Mr. Queen.
It is noteworthy whether River Where the Moon Rises will be able to once again prove its worth as a ‘well-made’ historical drama after facing a crisis just 3 weeks after the drama’s kick-off.
